Hi everyone, I'm Andy Rowlands from Birmingham. I've been cosplaying for about four years. I'm 56 and probably the old git of the group :-) I restore old railway locomotives as my other weekend hobby, and played American Football in the UK between 1985 - 2003. My main costume is Colonial Marine from Aliens, but I also have Mad Max from The Road Warrior and I'm in the process of finishing a Chip Hazard from Small Soldiers.
I made some models of the interior sets of the Nostromo from the original Alien film back in the early 80s, and have been invited to display them at various events in the last few years after I posted pics in a Facebook modelling group. I'll see if I can add a pic as an example on here.
I just tried the 'attachment' option, so hopefully a pic is now visible. I don't have a photobucket or anything like it, my pics are stored on my pc.

Hi Andy, glad you could join us, I'll upgrade your account to full membership so you can access the rest of the forum including the event sign up area. As for photos, its best to have an account with something like Photobucket etc and then paste the link onto your post using the full post editor facility by clicking the Reply button on the right of the post window and clicking the photo button on the toolbar. Once again Welcome to TDO and hope to see you again soon.

Cheers Max. Is there a way of getting email notifications if someone messages me or comments on a post I write, or do we need to keep checking on here?

Welcome to the group Andy, looking forward to seeing you at a Con very soon. I have always loved the Colonial Marines and Max always goes down well. You have some great Hobbies (especially the Loco restoration)and I too used to play American football (until I damaged my ankle) - Defensive Lineman All the best Grum

Cheers Grum. Good to hear from a fellow Gridiron fan and player :-) I tried different positions and ended up for the last four years on the O line, often Center as I could snap the ball properly, or Tackle. I managed to almost break both ankles and dislocated both knees, the left one twice, and broke two fingers, but after each recovery I carried on as I loved the game. Even at 56 the mind is still willing, but the body says yeah right!!

Hey there Andy, warmest of welcomes to TDO.
As i have been costuming for nearly a decade now, you may of seen me in my SkullBiker or Scarecrow on events in the past, remember seeing loads of colonial marines at Wrexham some few years ago, probs the 501st guys. Am sure i'll bump in to you someday soon. Most my time now is spent with family, although i won't be parting with my costumes anytime soon.
Looks like TDO is growing strong in numbers, considering some ppl thought we would'nt last a year, how wrong were they. ha!

That's very kind Treadec thank you :-) I'm currently waiting to see if my Marine costume has been cleared by the group admins, but yes quite a few of the Garrison have Marine costumes as well as their usual Star Wars ones. I usually get an invite to troop with them at the NEC cons, and there's often two or three other Garrison Marines to go out with me.
