Was walking in town today with my mum and ended up carrying my mums crutch, did a little tune of a little film called "Full Metal Jacket" and then it accured to me......why dont we get the costumes and do a little parade of ourselves? I have not heard of anyone do this before and we might be the first. Not only will it be fun it would a different experiance. tell me, what you think guys?

It does sound like a good idea mate, but there are many factors to take in to account, of the top of my head, and it is late and i'm a tad tired, lol. To make our own we have to......
- Find the location suitable to all members - Contact the necessary councils to organise road closure - Advertise advertise advertise, well in advance - Health and Safety aspects need to be approached - Make it interesting enough for the general public, IE: As we are a young costuming group our member base is still small. Thus us attending other organised parades are already made easy for us t attend and follow. - Contact to Authorities - Contact to any other groups willing to join us. - Location of secure changing area for members
There is a hell of a lot to take in to account, to making a parade, this is why we go to already organized parades.
These are some of my thoughts, may be other may say differently which i'd be interested to hearing also, But please do not be too despondent, and feel free to put your ideas to the club.
Thank you Col.

TDO members do do a annual twice a year parade to the CO's home town Llanduno Wales, Once in May for the bank holiday weekend which we have recently done, And this week end TDO are attending a big parade event in Chorley that i have organized, quite a few TDO members are attending.
Not sure if the whole forum is open to you for you to see the events section but we could do with more crew i can lend you a crew t.shirt if you're interested, i know Blue will be coming so may be he can give you a lift.?
Any other idaes we'd be happy to hear of, Thanks

Indeed as Col mentioned, we do parades and Chorley Carnival this weekend is one of them, you are most welcome to attend if you wish just look at the events section and sign up for the event, it is open to you if you want to attend. If you want to go in costume then you need to get your clearance photos in asap. Ideally you should do this at least one week before if its a new costume, but I can make an exception should you choose to. The other parades we attend are the Victorian Extravaganza and Xmas Parade here in Llandudno which is my home town, but we are always looking for more event to attend, so if you come across any then do let us know.

Sounds like a good idea in theory, but you would have to get like minded members aboard to make or buy the costumes. I haven't seen the film, but have been told it is extremely violent, which I will nothing to do with. This is aimed squarely at male members of the group, we are already having difficulty getting females to join us to add more romantic and heroic roles, so if more male members would reduce the macho image and troop as heroes that women appreciate and admire, now THAT would be a better idea.
